Ivan Tea

Fermented Fireweed Tea (Boreal Black Tea):

Ivan Tea is an ancient caffeine free black tea derived from the fermentation of young fireweed leaves. The fireweed leaves in this package are carefully picked, rolled by hand, then fermented for several days before being shade dried. This “fermentation” is an oxidation process exposing the cells of the leaves to oxygen over a few days. During this process the leaves change from a “green tea” to a “black tea”.

This tea has been crafted since the 12th century in Russia and is said that to have many health benefits. Ivan Tea is reputed to be high in vitamin c and to have a calming effect on the digestive system. It can be enjoyed at any time of day, especially in the evening. Origin:

All the ingredients are hand harvested by Laughing Lichen in the Northwest Territories of Canada.

Wilderness Manufacturing:

Each herbal blend we make in small batches at our remote “off-the-grid” wilderness facility located deep in the Northwest Territories boreal forest. Our entire facility is run using solar energy.  This ensures that the air drying of the collected herbs is done in a location far from any pollutants or contaminations.  All of our harvesting locations are in pristine virgin forests (old-growth), as here in the Northwest Territories of Canada, there has been very little development or natural resource activity over the years.
