Why beard oil?

Bushman’s Beard Oil is a specially formulated blend of oils and wild herbs, designed to be applied to your beard, stubble or other forms of facial hair to keep it soft, hydrated and healthy. Our Beard oil acts as a moisturizer and restricts hair from becoming brittle, especially in cold, windy environments like we experience in the north!  Hydration underneath your facial hair helps prevent flaking, dandruff and skin dryness. As your facial hair is coarser than the hair on your head, more upkeep and hydration helps it remain soft, shinny and smooth.  It becomes easier to style and manage facial hair when beard oils are used.

Infused with the wild tree lichens and black spruce strait from the forest, this beard oil provides the perfect tool to help treat beard itch and is specially designed to help condition and soften beards without leaving an oily residue.

Key Ingredients:

Organic Argan Oil (Moroccan Oil) : A healing oil produced from the kernels of the Argan tree which in Morocco is often referred to as the “tree of life”. Argan oil contains high amounts of vitamin E (Tocopherols), carotenes and essential fatty acids to name a few. It is reputed to have both bactericidal and fungicidal properties. Traditionally is was used to treat rheumatism and blemishes among other conditions and is said to sooth inflamed and irritated skin while reducing the appearance of scarring. Argan oil aids in balancing the skins oil production which is great for overactive oily skin or underactive dry skin.

Organic Jojoba: Is reputed to aid in sebum production, contains antioxidants & anti-inflammatory properties, provides a protective barrier for skin to keep it from loosing moisture, contains antimicrobial and antifungal properties, contains vitamin E, contains wound and scar healing properties, and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.

Organic Castor Oil:

• Acne: The antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties of castor oil make it useful in reducing acne. Ricinoleic acid can inhibit growth in the bacteria that cause acne.
• Moisturizing: Castor oil contains triglycerides. These can help maintain moisture in the skin, making it a useful treatment for dry skin.
• Hydration: Castor oil may have humectant properties, which means that it can draw moisture from the air into the skin, keeping the skin hydrated

Applying Oil:

Depending on frequency of use, each bottle contains enough beard oil for 2-6 months or continued use.   Add a few drops to the palm of your hand and rub in into your beard.  A beard brush works well to spread the oil.  Make sure to apply the oil to the skin underneath the facial hair as well.  Packaged in a glass bottle with glass dropper. And pssst… you can also use this as a hair oil, even if you don’t have a beard to nourish your locks 😉

At Laughing Lichen we follow the Canadian Organic Standards which are defined here: https://inspection.canada.ca/organic-products/standards/eng/1300368619837/1300368673172.  Section 7.6 of The Standard is specific to Wild Crops.

Wilderness Manufacturing:

Each batch of this nourishing and rich organic beard oil  is crafted in small batches at our remote “off-the-grid” facility located in the Northwest Territories boreal forest. Our facility is run using solar energy. At Laughing Lichen the herbs we forage are shade dried for optimal freshness and it is done in a location far from any pollutants or contaminations.  We forage the wild ingredients for this beard oil, in pristine virgin forests (old-growth), in the Northwest Territories of Canada.
