• Balm of Gilead Salve

Traditionally Balm of Gilead was used as a treatment for inflammation and superficial skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, sunburn, rashes, insect bites and chapped skin.

An elder taught me about the wonderful “sticky buds” from the cottonwood tree. Walking by a cottonwood one day on the edge of her property she spoke about a powerful medicine she made for her livestock and herself as a young woman. This wild herbal salve is infused with spring poplar buds(Balm of Gilead), spring willow inner bark, plantain and yarrow, all of which are known to have excellent healing properties. The fresh scent of poplar buds the this salve reminds one of a walk through a deciduous forest in spring. This balm is a favourite remedy to sooth windburn or frostbite after a long winter’s day of fun.

Ingredients: spring poplar buds (Populus balsamifera), Willow leaf and inner bark (Salix sp), self-heal (Prunella vulgaris), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), plantain (Plantago major), extra virgin olive oil, sunflower oil, and beeswax.

Topical Use Only, as with any new product please test a small patch of skin to rule out allergies.

This stuff is the best. I use it on sunburns, shaving bumps, heat rashes, anything. It smells great, isn’t greasy, and my skin loves it.

My brother gave this as a gift, and it was my go-to for my babies’ diaper rash and drool rashes on their cheeks. This works better than any zinc baby bum cream I’ve tried.
